Light on the Identity of Gauranga’s Associates In this work, translated by Dr. Demian Martins, Visvanatha Cakravarti reveals the identities of Lord Caitanya’s associates in Krsna-lila and complements the list of names given by Srila Kavi Karnapura in the Gaura-ganoddesa-dipika. He refers to the views of the previous Gaudiya acaryas and also to the Srimad Bhagavatam, Padma Purana, Rupa Gosvami’s Vidagdha-madhava and Krsnadasa Kaviraja’s Govinda-lilamrta. One of the highlights here is the corroboration of the link between the Madhva and the Gaudiya sampradayas as presented by Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana. At the end of this edition, there are comprehensive tables with a cross comparison between the identities of the Lord’s associates in Gaura-lila and Krsna-lila in the works of both Karnapura and Cakravarti.
Gopis are not proud, otherwise they will fight with each other, and become possessive and jealous, thinking I am closer to Krishna than someone else. Krishna teaches how to co-operate and not make politics to bring others down.
